Tathaastu: Article Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in writing for Tathaastu: So Be It. When submitting an article, please follow the guidelines below. We are sure you already follow most of the points mentioned in this primer. But we wanted to reiterate some of the basic guidelines to assist you and ensure an excellent article.
- Word length can be between 700-1400 words.
- Kindly review our magazine issues for the types of subjects. We are currently accepting articles on the following topics: Meditation, Spirituality, Ayurveda, Healthy Vegetarian Recipes and Holistic Healing. We are not interested in on-going columns, puzzles, fiction and poetry at this stage.
- Please be clear, concise and unbiased in your writing. Make it as interesting as possible to the readers. The idea is not to propagate your views – but to ensure that the information benefits readers.
- Tell a story – it has to have a beginning, the middle and an end. You can add personal anecdotes and humor in the article.
- Research is essential and specifics are vital. Mention facts/figures/statistics to make a case. Please give examples of real life cases whenever possible.
- When quoting research surveys – mention the survey and its purpose; who conducted it and when; major findings.
- Please ensure that all work is original and exclusive to Tathaastu – please do not use someone else’s material or even recycle your own earlier work. You may be inspired by someone’s idea to write – kindly give credit where it’s due.
- When using Quotes or references – always mention people and/or source.
- Always give a disclaimer at the end of a piece if you are promoting anything that is likely to have negative effects if not done responsibly/under medical guidance. This is applicable for everything from health exercises to meditation techniques to practices such as Vaastu or Feng Shui.
- Wherever possible, always provide charts, grids, to do lists, pictures (300 dpi in tif or jpeg format) to simplify and explain text/ideas to readers. Visuals work!
- Please proof read your article for style, grammatical and typography errors before sending it in. For example – program (American version); programme (Indian) – we need to use the American version.
- If you provide us with photos/pictures/other graphics – please ensure that you have the copyright for it and the material is available to us for publication.
- Catchy Headers – Please title your articles in such a way that they generate immediate interest. That is the first step in getting readers to read your material.
- Please use the active tense (and not passive) in your writing. For example, “They did it” and not “It was done by them.”
- When Indian/Asian celebrities/politicians are mentioned – please give at least a one line description of them in the article – as Western readers may not be always familiar with them.
